Regulations

Image
A regulated professional differentiates from a licensed or certified design professional by their requirement to follow local, state, and federal regulations at all times, which carries the risk of losing their position. States and regions have different legislation that regulate certification and licensure, therefore it is important for professionals to be aware of and abide by the laws that apply to them. This variation emphasizes how educated professionals must make well-informed decisions and that they must take proactive steps to learn about the regulations in the particular area in which they work. Simply put, regulated professionals, like licensed or certified design experts, are committed to competence, but in order to stay in the industry, they have to stay in compliance with a complicated web of regulatory regulations.  In a project, to meet clients needs, regulations, and overall building requirements; there is six phases that a project goes through. These phases i...

Interior Building Systems

Image
Being in interior design, it not just involves residential building but also commercial buildings as well. These commercial buildings can range from hospitals, hotels, banks, and shopping centers. In the design phase, it is important to incorporate data voice and telecommunication systems, energy control systems, and vertical circulation systems. As for completing a high security commercial building, it is important to consider different security features into the design project.  Digital interior design is a developing field, and incorporating necessary technology components has become essential.  The location of phone lines, internet connections, wireless services, and routers is a complex task for interior designers, who must skillfully combine these requirements into the built environment. An additional layer of complications is created by the need for specific teleconferencing venues, necessitating careful planning for the locations of phone jacks and LED projectors...

Indoor Environmental Quality

Image
The term indoor environmental air quality, also known as IAQ,  describes how the air in buildings and other structures affects the occupants' comfort, health, and well-being. It includes a range of elements, including temperature, humidity, ventilation, and the existence of contaminants. Sources of these substances include outside air, building materials, furniture, and cleaning supplies, HVAC system, and moisture within a building. These difficulties can be made worse by inadequate ventilation and poor indoor air circulation, which can cause discomfort as well as possible health issues like allergies, weariness, fatigue, and respiratory problems. To solve poor air quality, removing the source of the contaminants is needed and improving ventilation and then use of air cleaner will help reduce the effect of VOCs. The image to the right shows a diagram of how IAQ plays a factor in a residential setting.  Acoustic design plays an important part in interior environments by co...
